Welcome to the platform for EFT Couples Therapy in Switzerland. My name is Ben Kneubühler – Psychologist FSP, Clinical Sexologist iSi, EFT couples therapist and, since 2025, a certified Trainer for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT).
As one of the first in Switzerland to have obtained this internationally recognized certification through the ICEEFT, I actively contribute to shaping EFT training in the German-speaking world – evidence-based, hands-on and with a deep understanding of emotional bonding.
My Approach
My therapeutic work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which was developed by the late Dr. Sue Johnson (d. 2024) and is now one of the most thoroughly researched approaches to couples therapy worldwide. EFT is based on attachment theory and addresses what truly matters: emotional safety between partners.
What convinces me about EFT: It provides therapists with a clear model that simultaneously leaves room for the uniqueness of each couple. It is not about communication rules or quick tips, but about understanding the emotional patterns behind the conflicts – and through that, creating a new, secure connection.
My Journey
with EFT
For many years, I have been working therapeutically with couples – particularly with people who struggle with sexuality, intimacy or attachment injuries in their relationships. EFT opened up a new depth in my work – and at the same time gave me a language to work mindfully with the pain and longing that couples experience.
After several years of intensive advanced training, I have been a certified EFT Trainer since 2025. In recent years, I have organized and facilitated several Externships and Core Skills trainings for the growing EFT community in German-speaking Switzerland. Passing on this knowledge is something I am truly passionate about – through continuing education programs, supervision and direct collaboration with dedicated professionals from therapy, counseling and education.
Hold Me Tight – Workshops for Couples
In addition to training professionals, I am passionate about working directly with couples. As a licensed workshop facilitator, I regularly conduct Hold Me Tight weekend workshops – in Zurich, Bern and Lucerne.
The Hold Me Tight program was developed by Sue Johnson and is based on her bestselling book of the same name. In an intensive weekend, couples learn to recognize and break free from their negative cycles – and find their way back to closeness, trust and the courage to truly connect with each other.
