Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the right couples therapist?
Consider the therapist’s training level, languages spoken, and location. Many therapists offer a brief initial consultation to see if you feel comfortable. In EFT, the therapeutic relationship is especially important – trust your instincts.
How much does a couples therapy session cost in Switzerland?
Sessions typically cost between CHF 180 and CHF 250 per session (50–90 minutes). Some therapists offer double sessions for couples. Contact your chosen therapist directly for exact pricing.
Does health insurance cover couples therapy in Switzerland?
Couples therapy is generally not covered by Swiss basic health insurance (Grundversicherung). However, supplementary insurance (Zusatzversicherung) may partially cover costs if the therapist is recognised by your insurer. Check with your insurance provider before starting therapy.
Do both partners need a referral for couples therapy?
No. You do not need a doctor’s referral for couples therapy or marriage counselling in Switzerland. You can contact a therapist from our directory directly and book an appointment.
Can I find an English-speaking EFT therapist in Switzerland?
Yes. Many EFT therapists in our directory offer sessions in English, particularly in major cities like Zurich, Bern, Basel, and Geneva. Use the English-speaking therapists filter to find practitioners who conduct therapy in English.
Can I start couples therapy on my own?
Yes, this is possible. Many therapists begin with individual sessions to assess the situation. Ideally, couples therapy should involve both partners. If your partner is hesitant, an initial joint session can often increase their willingness to participate.
